Teens Love Gossip Girl
Hey Hey!
It might only be the fourth episode of Gossip Girl this week, but I’m already looking forward to a second season. Aren’t you? Here are some Gossip Girl ratings for the last three weeks:
PressMediaWire - The CW’s hot new drama Gossip Girl posted week-to-week gains in its third outing in all key demos, with increases of 6% in adults 18-34 (1.7/5), 13% in women 18-34 (2.7/7), 9% in adults 18-49 (1.2/3), 12% in women 18-49 (1.9/4) and 12% in viewers (2.8mil), according to Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Wed., Oct. 3, 2007.
America’s Next Top Model ranked second in its time period among adults 18-34 adults 18-34 (2.6/8) and women 18-34 (4.1/12), behind only ABC, and women 18-49 (3.4/9-tie). In fact, Top Model was just 0.1 of a point behind the much-hyped premiere of Pushing Daisies in women 18-34.
Both Top Model and Gossip Girl handily won their respective time periods with teens (Top Model: 3.0/11 and Gossip Girl: 2.5/8) and female teens (Top Model: 5.2/18 and Gossip Girl: 4.3/14), lifting The CW to Wednesday’s the number one network overall teens (2.8/10) and female teens (4.8/16).
With the strong female appeal of Top Model and Gossip Girl, The CW also ranked as the number two network on Wednesday among women 18-34 (3.4/9), behind only ABC.
Gossip Girl’s retention out of Top Model last night was 83% in teens and female teens.
What does that mean for Gossip Girl? It’s good news, but what Gossip Girl really needs to survive is to attract some adults to the series too. So ladies and gents, grab your moms, dads, and older siblings on Wednesday and throw a family night Upper East Side style.
